When I first get on my community website, it will tell me that I have a message, and it will read something to the fact of "Hi, I joined your community, will you please join mine? Or something to that affect. Isn't this what it is all about? When you have a blog, the object of the blog site is to get followers, people who want to read what you have to say, and follow what you are talking about. In response to people joining my community, it is out of respect that I would join theirs. It does not mean, I will read everything they have to say, I just like to follow people, who follow me, it's like a show of support. Blogging, for me is about friendships, networking, finding people who relate to me, and looking for people who can help me with issues that I might have, and people I can help out as well. When I have a lot of communities, that I have joined, if I need some information, I could easily find it on their sights. That's what blogging is all about, connecting with people who relate to me. There is nothing wrong with, following someone's blog when they decide to follow me because someday they might have something I might need, and I might have something they need, so we are helping each other.
